Trinidad and Tobago: Politician alleges garbage bid-rigging led to $250M a year salary

A garbage contractor has been hit with allegations by the Opposition People’s National Movement of bid-rigging concerning millions of dollars, according to reports. Solid Waste Management Company Ltd., a state-owned entity, is now threatened with being taken to the Integrity Commission concerning the matter. The Opposition leader, Dr. Keith Rowley, publicly commented on the matter by alleging a contractor in the entity has acquired a $240 million a year salary. Other politicians have denied the allegations.
