Turkey: Dozens detained in local bid-rigging sting

Police raided a local, family-owned business in the province of Zonguldak, detaining 69 people including a district mayor, in relation to allegations of a bid-rigging operation. The simultaneous raids were carried out at about 6 a.m. local time after more than a year of audio surveillance over the Demir Corporate Group. The company is one of the wealthiest family businesses in the area, according to reports. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the Kilimli Municipality were also raided as part of the operation.
