Turkey: Turkish Airlines probed for abuse of dominance

A spat between two rival airlines within Turkey has provoked the nation’s competition regulator to initiate an investigation into the claims, with accuse Turkish Airlines of abusing its dominant position. Competitor Pegasus launched the complaints in 2011.

Reports say Pegasus is accusing Turkish Airlines of preventing new market entrants. Though originally tossed by regulators, the case will now be investigated following an appeal by the low-budget airline.

The watchdog has two years to rule on the case following its probe.
