U.K.: Commission provisionally approves acquisition of building product suppliers
The Competition Commission (CC) has provisionally cleareded the acquisition by Epwin Holdings Limited (Epwin), a supplier of wide range of PVC building products, of Building Plastics Holdings Limited, CET Glass Processors Holdings Limited and Latium Building Products Holdings Limited (Latium). The CC have looked closely at the overlap between Epwin and Latium in the supply of PVC roofline and window-trim products, used in the construction of new houses and refurbishment of existing properties. According to the Deputy Chairman of the CC, the merger is not likely to affect competition in the market, as customers are used to negotiating for the optimal price and have the option of going elsewhere. The CC is expected to reach a final decision, and publish is report by 2 December 2012.
