U.K.: Glencore must compromise to buy Xstrata, says EC

If Glencore is to successfully buy out Xstrata in its proposed miner merger, Glencore must offer concessions to ease competition fears, the European Commission said Monday. The deal has been proposed for $33 million and the EC is expected to give a final ruling on November 8. Glencore, the world’s largest trader of diversified commodities, and Xstrata have yet to respond to the request.
