U.S.: Antitrust regulators focus on patent trolls

U.S. antitrust agencies are looking into how antitrust laws should apply to non-practicing entities (patent trolls) and may hold a workshop later this year to confer the matter, according to some news outlets. Both the DOJ and FTC have recently made statements urging officials to evaluate how the agencies handle businesses acquiring patent portfolios and license fees without selling products to consumers. The matter largely involves electronic companies.
