U.S.: Investigation opened into Vascular’s illegal marketing of medical device
Consumer protection firm Faruqi & Faruqi, LLP, have opened an investigation into the alleged wrongdoing at Vascular Solutions Inc. over whether the company mis-sold its Vari-Lase medical device for unapproved uses. Vascular announced they had received a subpoena in June of 2011 for documentation related to the company’s products, specifically of the Vari-Lase Short Kid, used for the treatment of perforator veins. Complaints filed last August claim Vascular paid doctors illegal kickbacks to increase sales of the device for non-approved uses.
