U.S.: Penguin latest to settle eBooks case, Apple and Holtzbrinck remain

Joining the ranks of several other publishers, Penguin has now reportedly settled with the Department of Justice over charges that the publisher – along with others including Hachette Book Group and HarperCollins – conspired with Apple Inc. to raise the price of eBooks on online retailers. Specifically, the publishers were charged with raising prices by several dollars above what was charged by Amazon on its Kindle service in the fall of 2009. Apple and publisher Holtzbrinck have yet to settle.
