U.S.: Proposal to investigate gas prices advances through Congress

A resolution has made it halfway through Congress to address rising gas prices in New Jersey. Democrats Waybe DeAngelo and Benjie WImberly have proposed an investigation into the alleged price-fixing of gas companies in the state, finding that September’s national average for cost of fuel was double that of prices between 2000 and 2009. New Jersey has some of the highest fuel prices in the nation. The resolution passed 74-4 between assembly lawmakers and will now advance to the Senate.
