UK: BT to absorb Orange, Duetsche Telekom JV

UK fixed-line provider BT is reportedly planning to acquire the joint venture run by France’s Orange and Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, reports say.

    The EU telco giants confirmed the news Wednesday that they are in early discussions to sell their joint venture EE to BT. The announcement follows just days after BT said it was in talks to potentially acquire assets from O2 and other telcos.

    Orange and Deutsche Telekom merged their UK operations in 2010 to create EE. While they confirmed talks of a sale, they noted that it was “too early” to determine whether an agreement will be reached. No financial details of the discussions were disclosed.
