UK: Radio divestment offer ignores Commission’s concerns over merger

Global Radio is working to sort out issues raised by the Competition Commission concerning its acquisition of GMG Radio by offering to divest several assets, including three of its stations. Global Radio is now offering to rid itself of Real XS in two cities as well as the station Gold. The company, which is reportedly the largest radio operator in the UK, is looking to purchase GMG for nearly $105 million. While Global has offered to divest assets, the areas it affects are apparently not what caused the Commission to raise concerns in the first place; if accepted, however, the offer would solve about half of the concerns.
