US: $20.1B alcohol merger may crumble from DOJ demands

The high-profile merger between Anheuser-Busch InBev and Grupo Modelo is in jeopardy, according to reports. Sources say InBev could walk away from the $20.1 billion deal if the company has to follow-through with requests by the US Justice Department to sell Grupo Modelo’s newest bottling plant, worth $600 million, to remedy competition concerns. The deal was approved by Mexican authorities last November.
