The American Bar Association is promoting discussion of the theft of intellectual property and its effects on competition in its latest event, say reports.
The ABA hosted the panel, “State AGS Target IP Piracy to Strengthen Fair Competition Among Manufacturers,” on Wednesday after several state attorneys general have launched litigation against patent-infringing companies.
The event focused on software piracy, say reports, which is often a center for discussion as the behavior could give unfair competitive advantages to low-cost rivals that use the stolen intellectual property.
The discussion was moderated by the co-founder of the National Association of Attorneys General’s Intellectual Property Task Force, Rob McKenna. McKenna also served as the former Washington Attorney General.
