US: American, Orbitz finally settle listing dispute

American Airlines and Orbitz Worldwirde Inc have reportedly settled their longstanding tiff over the way Orbitz presented American flight prices, though the details of the settlement were not revealed. Reports say American argued Orbitz mislead its customers concerning American Airlines’ fares, making them appear more expensive then they actually were. American pulled out of listing its flights on Orbitz in 2010 when Orbitz declined to implement new technology that allowed American customers to book flights based on information more than price; fares were again listed in 2011. The case has been settled just weeks after American Airlines made an agreement to merge with US Airways Group to create the world’s largest airline.
