US: Antitrust lawyer confirmed to serve as DC federal judge

The US Senate has confirmed a lawyer with antitrust background to serve as a federal judge in the District of Columbia, reports say.

    Amit Priyavadan, who was nominated by President Barack Obama last July, was confirmed as the Senate voted on several judicial nominations, reports say. Mehta has been a partner at Zuckerman Spaeder since 2010.

    His legal history includes representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal antitrust matters, including cases involving Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement action, reports say.
