US: Apple could be pursuing electric car merger

Apple Inc. has reportedly met with electric car company Telsa and discussed a possible merger deal, according to an unnamed source.

    That source told reporters that Apple’s Chief of Mergers and Acquisitions, and possibly CEO Tim Cook, met with Telsa CEO Elon Musk.

    The alleged meeting comes four months after a Wall Street analyst publically encouraged Apple to acquire Telsa.

    According to reports, analysts believe the acquisition of the electric carmaker would aid Apple in surviving beyond its smartphone and electronic gadget phase.
