US: Apple, Samsung closer to patent resolution

Smartphone rivals Apple and Samsung are reportedly taking steps towards a resolution in their ongoing patent battles as reports say the two have agreed to hold a mediation meeting ahead of their scheduled court date.

    The companies are planning to meet on or before February 19, along with in-house lawyers, to discuss a possible settlement. The companies had previously met last Monday.

    While neither Apple nor Samsung immediately commented on the news, reports say the companies could settle out of court before they head to trial in March. The companies are battling each other in various courts around the world, accusing each other of patent infringement regarding smartphone products. They are each seeking millions in damages from each other.
