US: AT&T buys out wireless retail business, expands subscribers by 585k

According to reports, AT&T has apparently agreed to buy Atlantic Tele-Network Inc’s wireless retail business in the US for a reported $780 million, expanding AT&T’s subscriber base by about 585,000. The deal also reportedly includes licenses, network assets and retail stores. In the US, Atlantic Tele-Network operates under the name Alltell. The deal may come under review by the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice.
