The gloves came off as the high-profile case concerning allegations that Apple Inc. colluded to fix the prices of e-books upon the release of its iPad took off on Monday. The tech giant has publically denounced the entire case as “bizarre” and went so far as to accuse the US Department of Justice that it has “reverse-engineered a conspiracy” against the company, stated during the defendants’ opening remarks. In closing the arguments Apple lawyer Orin Snyder argued Apple should be commended for what it considers major efforts to expand the e-books industry. The DOJ’s opening statements were equally as polarizing; the regulator’s Power Point Presentation has been made available through the media, outlining its entire case against Apple.
