US: House names new IP, antitrust subcommittee leaders

 |  December 7, 2014

The House Judiciary Committee has chosen new leaders for its antitrust and IP subcommittees, say reports.

The Committee’s Chairman Bob Goodlatte announced Representative Barrell Issa will chair the Internet, Courts and Intellectual Property subcommittee.

Reports say the appointment comes with a crucial caveat, however, as Issa – who has championed for tougher copyright laws, – will not handle such copyright issues as “all copyright related issues will be handled at the full Committee,” the House Judiciary Committee’s announcement said.

Representative Tom Marino, who had also sought a position on the IP subcommittee, has instead been named to head the regulatory reform and antitrust subcommittee.
