US: Attorney general is suing gas giant Marathon over gas prices

Attorney General Jack Conway announced Tuesday that he is suing Marathon Petroleum over gas prices and the company’s monopolistic practices that he said have forced Kentucky customers.

    Conway said he filed the suit in U.S. District Court because he said he was tired of waiting for federal regulators to act after making appeals to then-U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and twice to Federal Trade Commission officials without success.

    “I’m sick and tired of banging my head against a brick wall and I know the consumers of Kentucky are too,” Conway said, announcing the filing of the 23-page complaint before the media in downtown Louisville. “I’m tired of waiting for the federal government to do its job.”
