US: Key LIBOR DOJ lawyer returns to Davis Polk

Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP announced Tuesday that Denis J. McInerney will return to the firm as partner.

According to reports, McInerney will rejoin Davis Polk’s Litigation Department after serving at the US Department of Justice. The lawyer served a key role in the DOJ’s investigations into claims of LIBOR and foreign exchange benchmark manipulation, according to reports.

McInerney served as the Chief of the Fraud Section and Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division at the DOJ. He specializes in white collar criminal investigations and has dealt with cases across a variety of industries including healthcare and financial matters.

He first started at Davis Polk as an associate in 1986, the firm said.
