US: Lawyers chosen for massive battery bid-rigging case

Six law firms have been chosen by a federal judge to head the price-fixing case against the manufacturers of batteries used in various electronics. US District Judge Yvonne Rogers selected three firms to represent direct purchasers of the batteries, and three to represent indirect purchasers. The firms chosen include: Berman DeValerio; Joseph Saveri Law Firm; Pearson, Simon & Warshal; Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro; Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein; and Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy. The current case – which accuses lithium battery makers of fixing prices – is one of the largest outstanding antirust cases in the nation to date. The US Department of Justice began an investigation into the matter in 2011.
