US: Missouri bid-rigging lands two in jail

Two individuals were sentenced to prison time for antitrust violations, say reports, in a case that found the individuals benefitted from a bid-rigging scheme.

    In separate hearings, John A. Vassen and Scott Key McLean were sentenced to two years in prison and 18 months in prison, respectively. The two purchased foreclosed houses in a rigging bidding scheme.

    The collusion was reportedly headed by then-Madison County treasurer Fred Bathon.

    The two individuals were also each ordered to pay a fine of $25,000.

    According to reports, the convicted had made hundreds of thousands of dollars in excess interest.
