US: No upcoming M&A activity for JetBlue

 |  September 4, 2013

Despite murmurs that airline JetBlue Airways could be a potential new candidate for a buyout should the proposed deal between American Airlines and US Airways fail, JetBlue said Tuesday the company has no interest of a merger or buyout.

JetBlue CEO Dave Barger said at a summit Tuesday that “independence” is more on the agenda for the company than any future M&A activity.

The remarks were made at the Reuters Aerospace and Defense Summit.

The US Department of Justice is suing AMR Corp and US Airways for their proposed merger, which would create the world’s largest airline. A court date has been set for November 25 to kick-off the case.
