US: Secret AA settlement details revealed

 |  January 21, 2014

Following a 2012 settlement between American Airlines and travel tech firm Sabre, the terms of which were kept secret, Sabre’s initial public offering announcement Tuesday is now revealing some of the terms of the agreement.

Reports say Sabre had to make a $222 million settlement charge in its reports, in addition to a reported $100 million payment made to American Airlines in 2012. Further, the company reported another $100 million check to the company last month.

The financial details give a bit of insight into an intense antitrust battle between the companies over American Airlines’ efforts to allow consumers to book tickets directly through a travel agency, instead of having to use Sabre technology.
