US: Seventh electronic monitor settlement reached with Hitachi

 |  January 14, 2014

A US Federal Judge gave the preliminary approval for a $13.4 million settlement offer by Hitachi intended to end litigation of global price-fixing conspiracy claims that accuse several electronics makers of manipulating cathode ray tube prices.

The tubes are used in various television, computer and other electronic monitors. The lawsuits followed a 2007 announcement by the European Commission of a global probe into the allegations of price-fixing.

The latest settlement in the case, a $13.4 million offer by Hitachi, is the seventh to be reached in the complaint. Last month a $25 million settlement was approved for LG Electronics.
