Sinclair Broadcast Group continued its buyout spree of television stations with the announcement of a $985 million buyout of Allbritton television stations. Reports say the transaction will land seven ABC affiliates in Sinclair’s hands, including Washington DC’s WJLA and NewsChannel 8. Sinclair CEO David Smith described the deal as a “one-in-a-lifetime event that will allow the company to “be at the pulse of national issues” in the nation’s capitol. Allbritton reaches 4.9 percent of households with televisions, according to a press release.
