US: Antitrust Division special advisor steps down

The Department of Justice Antitrust Division’s special advisor on international issues has announced she will leave her position. Rachel Brandenburger had been at the DOJ for two years. While the news was released by the DOJ, the authority did not give an exact date Brandenburger will leave her post nor her future plans. Brandenburger advised on several cases involving Europe, including Deutsche Boerse’s attempt to purchase NYSE Euronext, a deal approved in the US but blocked in Europe. Other major projects included China and India-related cases. Assistant Attorney General William Baer described Brandenburger’s work as “significant and enduring.”
