US: Verizon boosts patent portfolio

Verizon is expanding its patent portfolio through a recently announced agreement to purchase assets from Intel Media, say reports.

    Intel Corporation will sell part of its Intel Media business that focuses on the development of Cloud TV services to Verizon Communications; following the acquisition, Verizon will own intellectual property rights in regards to Intel’s OnCue Cloud TV Platform, say reports.

    The parties expect the deal to close in the early first quarter of this year, though the buyout remains subject to regulator approval. The Intel Media business will continue to run as usual.
