Virgin Atlantic, which agreed earlier this year to enter into a partnership with Delta Air Line, is open to a new alliance with a carrier within the Middle East, according to its CEO.
Richard Branson told reporters Virgin is open to focusing on the east to strengthen its presence following clearance by regulators of its deal with Delta.
Both the European Commission and the US Department of Justice cleared the deal, which saw Delta acquire 49 percent of Virgin Atlantic previously owned by Singapore Airlines. Recent reports say the transaction is on its way to finalization.
Branson told media, however, that “whether a Middle East carrier would make sense as an alliance partner, or some form of relationship, is one to be determined.”
