Veteran Antitrust Economist Joins CRA as Vice President

Charles River Associates (CRA) has announced the appointment of Dr. Alison Hole as Vice President in its Antitrust & Competition Practice, according to a statement from the firm. Dr. Hole brings more than two decades of experience in antitrust economics and is recognized for her work in merger review and competition investigations.

    Per a statement, Dr. Hole has held senior roles across multiple jurisdictions, including Washington, London, and Brussels. Her background spans both regulatory positions and consulting, giving her what the firm describes as a combination of enforcement agency insight and global advisory experience. CRA emphasized that her addition strengthens its ability to provide economic analysis and testimony in competition matters at a time when cross-border transactions are under heightened scrutiny.

    Dr. Hole’s career includes more than 10 years at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, where she served as Deputy Director for Antitrust in the Bureau of Economics. In that role, she supervised merger and conduct investigations across industries and contributed to policy documents, including the 2023 U.S. Merger Guidelines and the 2010 U.S. Vertical Merger Guidelines. According to a statement, she also held the role of Chief Economist at the UK Competition Commission.

    In addition to her regulatory experience, Dr. Hole has a consulting background. She previously served as Executive Vice President at a global economic consulting firm and earlier was a Director at a litigation and business advisory company. Her professional history includes advising clients in Europe, the UK, and the U.S.

    Dr. Hole earned both an MSc in Econometrics and Mathematics and a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics.
