Virgin Atlantic will appeal the European Commission’s approval of IAG’s acquisition of BMI. Virgin Atlantic’s President Sir Richard Branson is quoted as criticizing the Commission for having reached its decision with “lightning speed.” He also took issue with the conditions placed on the deal, finding them insufficient. In addition to the appeal, Virgin Atlantic plans on bidding on all of the 12 slots that IAG must surrender under the terms of the Commission’s approval.
