Vodafone, Telefónica, and Everything Everywhere’s mobile commerce joint venture enters phase II investigation
The European Commission has opened a phase II investigation into the proposed joint venture between Vodafone, Telefónica, and Everything Everywhere (a T-Mobile UK and Orange UK joint venture). The companies make up three of the four mobile network operators in the United Kingdom. The Commission is concerned with mobile payment applications supply, mobile advertising, and data analytics services in the U.K. A preliminary investigation revealed the possibility of the joint venture blocking new entrants from the U.K. mobile commerce market.
