The Competition Authority is in the midst of deciding whether it should investigate Bord Gáis. The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors has filed a complaint with the Authority related to Sierra’s winning bid to become Bord Gáis’ sole managed services provider in 2009. The Association alleges that because the contract was awarded to one company, independent contractors cannot access Bord Gáis’ billing system and customers of independent contracts must pay up front to install a boiler. Before opening a probe, the Competition Authority will determine if the complaint falls under competition law.
