What Role for Competition Rules in the EU Agricultural Sector?

Over the last fifteen years competition rules in the agricultural sector have been increasingly called to contribute to addressing the main challenges of the EU agriculture sector, in particular through the adoption of numerous exclusions from the application of standard competition rules. The information available so far indicates that there is limited use of these exclusions. There is also scope to provide more legal certainty for many farms through amending the exclusion from competition rule
