Africa: Years later, worlds second-largest seed firm finalizes buyout

The world’s second-biggest seed conglomerate DuPont has finalized its buyout of Africa’s largest seed producer Greytown, based in South Africa, nearly three years after the companies first announced the deal. The acquisition was delayed as it sought clearance by about a dozen antitrust agencies throughout the globe; South Africa first rejected the buyout. Terms of the transaction were not made public. Reports say the deal is part of DuPont’s efforts to increase its focus on food, energy and safety through its seed operations.
