Chile: Subtel goes before TDLC to increase useable broadcast spectrum

Chile’s Undersecretariat of Communications (Subtel) will present a non-contentious consultation to the Tribunal for the Defense of Free Competition (TDLC), to propose raising the limits in the radio broadcast spectrum for commercial use.

    However, according to the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Pamela Gidi, they are “waiting for the formal proposals of companies, and based on that we will review the TDLC issue …”

    The decision comes after a resolution of the Supreme Court, which accepted a lawsuit filed against Claro, Entel and Movistar, in which they were accused of hoarding the 700 MHz band in a tender held in 2013.
