Keith Klovers, formerly an Attorney Advisor to FTC Commissioner Christine S. Wilson, has joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Mr. Klovers, who started March 23, is now Of Counsel in the firm’s Washington, DC office.
During his tenure, the Commission was unusually active on both the enforcement and policy fronts. The agency voted to challenge more than one dozen mergers and several non-merger conduct matters. Acting in its judicial capacity, the Commission decided important antitrust appeals involving trademarks and pharmaceutical patent settlements. On the policy front, the Commission – with the U.S. Department of Justice – issued draft Vertical Merger Guidelines for the first time in its history.
“The Commission is a special place, and I was honored to work alongside such talented and committed colleagues on so many cutting-edge matters,” Mr. Klovers told CPI. “Ultimately, I was drawn to Wilson Sonsini by those same factors, as well as the opportunity to work with so many other FTC and DOJ alumni.”
Before joining Commissioner Wilson’s office, Mr. Klovers served as Attorney Advisor to FTC Commissioner Maureen K. Ohlhausen. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Hon. Douglas H. Ginsburg on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, practiced antitrust law at another major international law firm, and served as an economic consultant in telecommunications and antitrust matters. He was educated at the University of Michigan Law School and the College of William and Mary.
