Students can have eligible orders delivered to a campus Locker at no additional cost, pick them up on their own schedule within three calendar days or have someone else collect the package, according to the release.
“College students are constantly on the move, and picking up a package should fit into their day—not the other way around,” Viraj Chatterjee, vice president, Amazon Transportation, said in the release. “Expanding Amazon Locker across college and university campuses nationwide puts secure package pickup directly into the flow of campus life.”
These new Amazon Locker locations join the more than 25,000 package pickup locations the company offers across the U.S., according to the release.
The Amazon Locker network provides a solution for customers who want a package delivered to a place that’s not their home or work, the company said in an article updated in February 2025.
To use this solution, Amazon customers search by address or zip code to find a pickup location, add it to their address book, select the Locker location during checkout, wait for a delivery confirmation email, and follow the instructions in the email to open the Locker and retrieve the package, according to the article.
“Maybe your apartment building doesn’t have a mailroom or doorman, or you’d rather pick up the package on your way to another destination. Maybe you want to keep a gift as a surprise,” the article said. “Whatever the reason, there’s an easy, convenient solution: Amazon Locker.”
The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Global Digital Shopping Index: U.S. Playbook: The New American Shopper” found that U.S. consumers now log 51 digital shopping days a month, up from 46 in January 2024. A digital shopping day is any day with at least one activity, so totals can exceed 30, per the report.
Together with the new Locker locations on campuses, Amazon offers college students and 18- to 24-year-olds Prime for Young Adults. This offers all the benefits of Prime membership at 50% of the cost, according to the Tuesday press release.
New customers can confirm their age by sharing their driver’s license, passport or identity card. If they are students enrolled in a two- or four-year college, they can sign up by sharing their .edu email address, per the release.
