Uber has won a license from the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission to operate in the city, but cannot offer its auto payments system, the company announced on its blog.
“There are zero fees for hailing a cab with UberTAXI. However, UberTAXI does NOT yet include automatic payment for your taxi fare, so be sure to pay your driver,” the release said.
Uber said it will also face a limited supply of taxi’s in its early weeks, and that it cannot facilitate airport pickups or drop-offs.
