Visa Announces New ATM Liability Shift Dates For EMV

Visa has announced new liability shift dates for its EMV roadmap that will affect third-party acquirers of ATM transactions, notes ATM Marketplace.

Under the new dates, third-party ATM acquirers must support EMV chip data by April 1, 2015. The fraud liability shift will hit much of Asia Pacific on Oct. 1, 2015 and the U.S., China, Japan, and Thailand on Oct. 1, 2017. The dates now align more similarly with MasterCard’s existing timeline.
