Robots, Biometrics And Avatars: Brazil’s “Bank Of Future”

Much of the world’s recent payments news has focused on mobile devices or services that allow consumers to conduct transactions while on the move. We don’t always hear as much about the technology being used inside the physical bank branches.

Banco Bradesco, one of Brazil’s largest banks, is looking to change that, opening their Bradesco Next “bank of the future” in Sao Paulo.

An outlet replete with state-of-the-art touchscreens, biometric ATMs and even a robot greeter, Bradesco Next is riddled with features ranging from cool-but-superficial to potentially revolutionary within the payments field.

Biometric login terminals are one key feature of the branch. Bradesco first implemented palm-based biometric authentication methods in 2006, and now has around 10 million user profiles. Once clients log in with palm scans, they’re free to access ATMs and other services throughout the branch without the use of a card.

A “Life Cycle” service provides unique feedback to individual customers based on their financial profiles, and can relay pertinent information about markets or spending patterns to the user.

If you’re still looking for some human interaction, one-on-one customer service rooms – complete with walls that change from transparent to opaque with the push of a button for privacy, allow clients to hold meetings with financial specialists.

Some of the less useful but still awesome features? Giant touchscreens that essentially turn entire walls into tablets, robo-greeter “Link 237,” and a “Mesa Lounge” allowing customers to order water or magazines through (even more) touchscreen menus. Take a peek inside below!
