Roughly 75% of World’s Poor, 2.5 Billion People, Are Underbanked

Roughly 75% of the world’s poorest inhabitants — or 2.5 billion people — do not have a bank account, says a new report from the World Bank.

The report, backed by research from Gallup, says the proliferation of mobile phones is helping to reduce this problem worldwide.
