Boeing and SIA Engineering have received approval from the authorities for a proposed joint venture to offer technical services for aircraft in Singapore.
In a news release on Thursday , the Competition Commission of Singapore said the proposed joint venture “will not substantially lessen competition in any market in Singapore”.
“There are strong and viable alternative suppliers of local inventory technical management and fleet technical management to Singapore customers, to act as competitive restraints,” explained CCS.
The CCS added that the proposed joint venture had “no intention or ability to be used by either party to prevent or limit its competitors from competing effectively in any other related markets”.
The proposed joint venture aims to offer a range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for Boeing aircraft for companies based in the region.
