US: Bazaarvoice gets antitrust monitor

The US Department of Justice has ordered online review site Bazaarvoice to have a third-party antitrust monitor to oversee the company’s compliance to competition rules, according to reports.

    Bazaarvoice has been ordered by the US Department of Justice to appoint the antitrust monitor following an investigation into the company’s use of software it had previously agreed to divest.

    According to reports, a consent order was filed Monday that revealed the order to appoint the monitor; the filing also marks the conclusion of Bazaarvoice’s two-year saga with the DOJ regarding competition issues.

    The DOJ first launched an investigation into Bazaarvoice’s use of the software last July. A federal judge ordered Bazaarvoice to sell the software in question after the DOJ’s earlier investigation into the company found antitrust violations regarding its acquisition of rival PowerReviews.

    Reports say Bazaarvoice has 90 days to appoint the antitrust monitor.
