Bulgaria: Promo campaign leads to $300K fine for leading telco operator

Antitrust regulators issued a fine of nearly $300 thousand to Bulgaria’s largest mobile telecommunications operator, say reports. The Competition for Protection of Competition issued the penalty against Mtel, owned by Telekom Austria, after receiving complaints about the carrier’s promotional campaign offering bundled voice, data and cable television services. The regulator found the company violated antitrust law by exceeding the limit of a promotional offer.
