EU: Virgin, Liberty Global deal made official for $22.6B

The European Commission announced Monday its approval for US-based television operator Liberty Global to buy Virgin Media in Britain for $22.6 billion. The deal will reportedly make Liberty Global the largest cable operator in Europe and the second-biggest pay-television provider in Britain. The Commission reportedly approved of the deal without concessions as the two parties do not operate in overlapping geographical jurisdictions in the EU.
