UK: As skepticism high for Big Four breakup, Commission may release probe results this week

According to reports, the UK’s Competition Commission, which has twice-delayed the results of its preliminary probe into the “Big Four” accounting firms, is hoping to release its findings this week. The investigation into Britain’s top 350 firms began in 2011 after the House of Lords found listed companies apparently use the same accountant for 48 years, on average. The Big Four – KPMG, PwC, Ernst & Young and Deloitte, dispute the claim. According to reports, the market structure of having the Big Four lead the way in Britain is quit similar to the global market. While the market dominators are scrutinized, the media reports it is unlikely they will be broken up.
