Major liquefied petroleum gas suppliers promise improvements to consumer contracts
The Office of Fair Trading has secured voluntary improvements from the major suppliers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The suppliers are Avanti Gas Limited, BP Gas, Calor Gas Limited and its sister company Calor Gas Northern Ireland, and Flogas UK Limited and its sister company DCC Energy Limited (trading as Flogas Northern Ireland). The OFT had raised their concerns that the supplier contracts were potentially unfair in the OFT 2011 Off-Grid Energy Market Study. Following the study, the suppliers are to make changes to their domestic bulk customer contracts, and improve transparency around switching, cancellation rights, and exit costs. The improvements will ultimately increase consumer protection.
